Who You Love

A Short Story

Last year, a man hit me on my bicycle with his large van. He did not see me because there was a very bad storm. Luckily, I was unhurt but my bicycle was destroyed. The man gave me a ride home but he gave me a fake telephone number, because he said he would pay for my bicycle but he was actually lying.
I don't own a car and I used my bicycle a lot. I was telling this story to some friends later that week, and one of them GAVE me their bicycle for FREE. I was so thankful, she was a very generous person. I still have the bicycle she gave me and I love it.

After you read this story, click on comments below. If you can, write a small story about a time when someone did something nice for you. Or, write something about this short story.

Customs in the United States

Customs are the ways that a culture does things.

Some American customs:

When someone sneezes, you say "Bless you!"  (Sometimes people say "Geshundheit," which is German.)

We shake hands when we meet someone for the first time.

Time is money!  Americans always want to be on time.

No elbows on the table!  Also, many Americans eat with the fork in their right hands.

It is very bad to break a mirror!  Some Americans think you will have seven years of bad luck if you break a mirror.

What are some customs from your country?  Do you have some of the same customs as the United States?  Please click "Comments" to answer.
